FM Amirabdollahian meets Iraqi President

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian met with Iraqi President Barham Salih on Wednesday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Underscoring strategic ties between Iran and Iraq, Amirabdollahian said that Tehran was ready to further expand ties with Baghdad.

He also pointed to the different dimensions of Iran-Iraq bilateral ties and emphasized the necessity of leveraging all capacities of both countries.

President Salih thanked Iran for all its assistance to Iraq in the past years and said that expanansion of ties with Iran was the absolute determination of Baghdad.

The two sides also discussed the situation in Afghanistan, Syria, Bahrain and Yemen.
