Iran emphasizes rapid implementation of North-South corridor

Moscow, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador to the the Russian Federation said here on Wednesday that by relying on Iran and Russia serious will, the North-South corridor has entered a new phase, emphasizing that it must be put to use rapidly.

Kazem Jalali, who was speaking at the 16th Saint Petersburg International Conference on Transportations, expressed hope that cooperation among the regional and neighboring countries in the framework of the International North-South Corridor will continue and lead to further proximity of regional nations.

He said that the North South corridor has entered a new serious phase of pursuing the concerned countries, reiterating: This pathway can yield good income for the involved countries, such as Iran and Russia, and enroot its rail path for countries like the Azerbaijan Republic.

Jalali said that in the meetings he has had with the Indian ambassador, that country, too, is seriously pursuing the issue of strengthening that path.

The Iranian ambassador highlighted the great significance of Iran in that corridor, emphasizing that Iran is seriously working on construction of the rail path of that corridor.

The four-day 16th Saint Petersburg International Conference on Transportations in Russia is held in the presence of managers, technicians, and officials of dozens of countries and in it the exit ways from the economic recension due to the coronavirus pandemic will be discussed.
