Amirabdollahian: No limits in expansion of Iran-Venezuela relations

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s foreign minister emphasized in a meeting with his Venezuelan counterpart on Wednesday that there are no limits for Iran-Venezuela bilateral cooperation.

The meeting between Hossein Amirabdollahian and Felix Plasencia in New York was on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and the two sides exchanged viewpoints in bilateral ties, their strong and quite close relations.

Amirabdollahian emphasized that Iran considers no limits in expansion of ties with Venezuela, adding that the two countries will continue their efforts aimed at defeating the oppressive sanctions of the United States.

“The only possible way is resistance and reliance on our local capabilities,” he added.

The Iranian foreign minister said that Venezuela, due to its geopolitical status, has a very special significance, and this can be the basis for "our joint cooperation".

He also announced Tehran’s readiness for hosting the two countries’ joint commission.

The Venezuelan foreign minister, too, in the meeting presented a report on the latest conditions in his country and appreciated Iran’s assistances, informing his Iranian counterpart that the Venezuelan economy is in the process of revival.

Plasencia said that Caracas carefully and painstakingly pursues its bilateral ties with Iran and will use all its potentials aimed at further improvement of those ties.

“Our two countries’ relations proved that geographical distance cannot be an obstacle for cooperation between two independent countries,” said the Venezuelan top diplomat, asking for further expansion of economic and business ties with Iran.
