However, Khatibzadeh underlined that Iran stands against this and conveys the message of fighting against dominance and that the good news is that more voices have joined Iran.

On Iran’s permanent membership in the SCO, Khatibzadeh said that it is a multi-dimensional organization that has various capacities to enjoy. He also added that the SCO and Iran can mutually leverage each other’s capacities, as President Ebrahim Raisi noted that Iran’s presence makes the organization more powerful.

Noting that the combination of Iran’s nuclear negotiating team was yet to be finalized, the diplomat said that if the US leaves its unilateral approach, the talks in Vienna would be in a better direction.

About the issues regarding a highway connecting Iran to Armenia, the spokesman highlighted Iran’s policy on prioritizing territorial integrity of the neighboring countries, saying that Iran tries to leverage its capacities with regards to its neighbors in a balanced manner.

Asked about the detention of Iranian truck drivers by Azerbaijani officials, Khatibzadeh noted that Iran has followed up the issue and has requested immediate release of the drivers and a meeting of officials to provide a sustainable solution to the issue.
