Roadmap for boost in Tehran-Dushanbe ties to be finalized soon

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi announced on Saturday that he has agreed with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon to finalize a roadmap for fostering bilateral relations in the shortest time.

The two have also agreed to fulfill objectives of the roadmap by 2030, President Raisi made the remarks in a meeting held in Tajikistan with Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda.

Iranian president left for the Tajik capital on September 16 to take part in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.

In the meeting with Rasulzoda, President Raisi said the talks with his Tajik counterpart has stressed increase in level of trade exchange to  a 500-million-dollar worth.

As the president noted, grounds have well prepared for furthering Tehran-Dushanbe relations.

He went on to say that good agreements have been reached between the two countries; and their implementation need constant efforts.

For his part, the Tajik premier said his country eagerly awaits presence of Iranian private sectors active in tourism, engineering services, power plants and energy in Tajikistan.

President Raisi left for Tajikistan three days ago for SCO Summit.

Before September 17, 2021, the SCO had eight members, including China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Iran which had already acted as an observer at the Organization became its permanent membership on Friday.
