President Raisi heading to Tajikistan for SCO summit

Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi is leaving for Tajikistan capital Dushanbe on Thursday to participate in Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit at the invitation of his Tajik counterpart.

In his first trip abroad as President, Raisi will head a high ranking political and economic delegation to Dushanbe to partake in the SCO summit which is going to be held during September 16-17 in the Tajikistani capital.

He has been invited by the Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to attend and give a speech in the summit and will have a meeting with Rahman afterwards.

Raisi will also have meetings with other leaders and heads of delegations in the sidelines of the summit.

Iran has an observer status in the SCO which was established in 2001 originally to fight terrorism and extremism and expanded to include economic issues.
