Abolhassan Khalaj Monfared said on Saturday that the 6th Iran-China Cultural Dialogue will be held in Tehran in the framework of the agreement between Iran’s ICCO and the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
So far three editions of the event have been held in Beijing and two others in Tehran, he said, adding that this round would be held online due to the coronavirus spread.
Khalaj noted that the ICCO intends to leverage Iranian academic centers and universities to run joint programs with the Chinese Academy of Sciences which has a number of experts on Iranology.
The sixth round of the event will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday and the president of ICCO and deputy head of the Chinese Academy of Science, as well as several Iranian and Chinese experts will deliver speeches, according to Khalaj.
He also said that the program has a significant effect on reviewing cultural and civilizational communications between Iran and China, especially given that this year is the 50th anniversary of Iran-China relations establishment and that the two countries have recently signed a 25-year strategic cooperation agreement.
The official also pointed to the cultural- and tourism-related exchanges between Iran and China, the significant influence of both countries in the West Asia region and their common interests in fighting against the hegemony and unilateralism practiced by Western countries, the US in particular.
The ICCO is the main entity to enforce cultural policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the international arena and has over 30 years of experience in this regard, including promulgation of interfaith dialogue.
The organization has so far held cultural dialogue events, including Iran-Europe cultural dialogue, Iran-Indian Peninsula cultural dialogue, and Iran-Arab World cultural dialogue.
