Serbian Archbishop expresses great respect for Iranian people, civilization

Belgrade, IRNA – Archbishop of Serbia’s Orthodox Church said in a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Belgrade that he has great respect for Iranian people and civilization.

His Holiness Porfirije, Archbishop of Serbian Orthodox Church, met Iran’s Ambassador in Serbia Rashid Hassanpour on Saturday.

The Archbishop said that Christian leaders in Serbia have always considered Muslims as their brothers and have had good ties with Muslim muftis there.

This unity and friendship stem from common values between Muslims and Christians, he added.

His Holiness also said that Iran’s support of interfaith dialog was of great importance for Serbia’s Christians and they would support such conversation that leads to proximity and mutual understanding between religions.

Iranian Ambassador called on focusing on many commonalities between Iran and Serbia, underlining that all faiths call for kindness, justice, humanity, love and peace.

Mutual understanding would be fulfilled through interfaith dialog, as all humanitarian values lie in all divine faiths, he highlighted, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always tried to move in this path.
