Production of COVID-19 vaccine has also caused other industries to follow suit and do their best to localize their whole production process and keep currency inside the country by meeting domestic demand.
Nanotechnology
One of such products was the extruder machine which is used in different industries to blend two materials or smooth a material. Liposome extruder is a sample of such machines which is used in medicine and cosmetics industries.
The machine used to be imported at high costs, but it is available now inside Iran by the efforts of Iranian scientists in Armina Mehravin company. The machine works by imposing nitrogen pressure over the material and provides an output of nano-sized particles. The product is affordable domestically at price 70 percent lower than foreign brands.
Production capacity in medical equipment
Iran’s Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology has made a lot of effort in this area, including signing a contract with Indonesia to export the Sina Surgery Robot and construct two remote robotic surgery training in Bandung and Djokjakarta.
Iran has had a close cooperation with Indonesia’s Health Ministry since 2019 and has since held 4 health-related events thanks to the cooperation.
Petrochemicals and oil industry
Iran’s total petrochemical products amounted to 2.7 million tons before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, but its nominal capacity has reached to 62 million tons, with a 34 percent share in Iran’s non-oil exports.
This has been achieved by expansion and maintenance of oil and gas refineries. Some units in gas refineries had been out of operation for a while. However, experts in National Iranian Gas Company repaired the units using domestic knowledge and parts.
These are only a few examples of achievements by domestic knowledge in Iran which has created a host of jobs in addition to preventing currency pouring out of the country.
