Int'l army games kick off in Isfahan, Iran

Isfahan, IRNA – The sixth edition of international army games began on Sunday in Iran’s Isfahan city, with four teams from Iran, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

The competition is held on August 22 to September 3 in the category “Gunsmith Masters”.

Military and government officials from Iran and several ambassadors and military attachés from different countries attended the inauguration ceremony.

Deputy Coordinator for Iran’s Ground Forces Brigadier General Abbas Fallah said in a speech in the inauguration ceremony that the competition is held with the purpose of expanding peace, friendship, and cultural interaction between participating countries.

Elsewhere, the Russian Federation representative underlined that enhancing military capacity, training system, and arms repairmen units’ readiness is an important objective in holding the competition.

Also, Uzbekistan’s representative in the competition thanked Iran for organizing the games and said that the competition was a good opportunity to exchange experiences between participating countries.

Vietnam’s representative said that this was the first time they participate in International Army Games, underlining that the event provides a good space for technical improvement of arms.

Military teams in the competition use heavy and light field artillery, air defense equipment, and personal weapons to compete in five steps.
