Hossein Amirabdollahian and Yue Xiaoyong discussed mutual issues and the recent developments of Afghanistan.
Criticizing the US for its trial-and-error policies in the region, specifically in Afghanistan, Amirabdollahian said that the role of people in the country’s fate and formation of an inclusive government should be taken into consideration.
The people of Afghanistan have proved throughout history that they do not stand foreign occupation, he said.
Referring to the relations between Iran and Beijing, he said that within the framework of the strategic cooperation document, the two countries can have cooperation at different levels in Afghanistan.
Amirabdollahian and Yue also stressed Afghanistan’s territorial integrity, independence, peace, and stability, urging the formation of an inclusive government and good relations with its neighbors, as well the country’s being devoid of terrorists.
Based on a peace agreement between the Taliban and Washington signed in February, the US and its allies withdrew from Afghanistan in the recent weeks after two decades of occupation. Following the pullout, the Taliban group managed to take control of almost the entire country, including Kabul, the capital city.
