Dizin International Ski Resort Manager Sadeq Kalhor said in an interview with IRNA on Saturday that the competitions were set to be held in September but were canceled due to the new wave of coronavirus spread in Iran.
20 athletes from Austria, Italy, Czech Republic, and Slovakia, as well as 21 Iranian athletes, were registered to participate in the competition, according to Kalhor.
He said that the conditions were great and all requirements were provided, but the organizers had to cancel it due to the pandemic situation in Iran.
Dizin is the largest skiing resort in the Middle East and has hosted many national and international competitions during both warm and cold seasons.
The resort is located 70 kilometers northeast of Karaj city and has 3 gondola lifts, 2 chairlifts and 8 surface lifts.
