Envoy says Tehran has learned from interaction with West

Moscow, IRNA – Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali stressed the fact that Iran welcomes any diplomatic measure which result in lifting sanctions, adding that Tehran has learned from interactions with the West.

Speaking in the meeting at Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, Jalali elaborated on different issues, including delays in sending Russian vaccines, Iran nuclear deal, attacks on Israeli tanker, Iran-Russia agreement, and Moscow interaction with new Iranian government.

He said that Iran has done all regarding its agreement with Russia for buying 62 million doses of vaccine but only 1,020,000 doses have so far been sent to Iran.

Referring to long-standing relations between Iran and Russia, Jalali said that common views between leaders of two countries caused better conditions in this regard.

He noted that Iran and Russia have commonalities in global management against unilateralism.

Tehran and Moscow are strong countries in the international community and enjoy various actual and potential capabilities.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Jalali highlighted the role of media in informing people of the two countries’ capabilities.

He also called for boosting the level of media and academic interactions, saying Iranian and Russian media should maintain serious cooperation.

Commenting on Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, Iranian diplomat said that all five states have held negotiations in this regard and Iran has always participated in these sessions actively.

The government and parliament of Iran are reviewing the bill, but some issues still need to be discussed, he stated.

Regarding Iran nuclear deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Jalali said that Iran has complied with its commitments, but the West and the US were not committed.

Iran has never left the negotiating table and has always supported fair and targeted talks.

Referring to Mercer Street vessel incident, he said that as Russian officials earlier said the Zionist regime and the West have not presented any evidence.

He noted that the Zionist regime and the West try to wage a propaganda campaign against the new Iranian government.

Elaborating on Iran-Russia agreement, Jalali said the agreement will be automatically be extended after five years.

The senior Iranian and Russian officials have announced their agreement for updating the agreement and its extension.
