Pakistani Shia leader congratulates President Raisi on taking office

Islamabad, IRNA -- Secretary-General of Pakistan top Shia party Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Pakistan (MWM) extended congratulations to Iran's new president Ebrahim Raisi as he was sworn into office.

Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri in a message expressed hope that relations between Iran and Pakistan would further strengthen under the government of President Raisi.

He said the relations between the two neighboring countries are deep-rooted in history, culture, and geographical commonalities.

MWM leader emphasized that Pakistan is a partner in security, reconciliation, peace, prosperity, and regional stability especially in Afghanistan.

He added the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan, as two neighboring and close countries and have common interests and concerns; and at the same time, there are valuable opportunities to develop cooperation in the fields of energy, technology, economy, trade, defense, and security.

The leader of the Pakistani Shia party added that evil extra-regional powers are always trying to conspire against the fraternal relations between Iran and Pakistan and to repel these negative plans, a joint Tehran-Islamabad strategy must be developed and implemented.

Noting the frustration of rival powers, including the United States and its allies, over the continuation of democracy in Iran and the smooth transition of power, he said that these anti-Islamic powers were seeking to escalate the Middle East and destabilize security.

Ibrahim Raisi was sworn in as new president of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Thursday at an inauguration ceremony held at Majlis (the Iranian Parliament).
