Iranian weightlifter receives silver medal at super heavyweight class

Tokyo, IRNA – Iranian weightlifter Ali Davoudi grabbed the silver medal of 109-kg weight class in Tokyo Olympic Games with 441 kg in total.

In his first snatch attempt, Davoudi lifted 191 kg. He then lifted 196- and 200 kg in his second and third attempts.

In clean and jerk, Davoudi lifted 234 kg in his first attempt. Then he failed to lift 240 kg in the second attempt. However, he managed to lift 241 in his third attempt to win the silver medal of the weight category with 441 kg in total.  

Other Iranian weightlifters have also shined in previous editions of Olympic Games at Super Heavyweight class.

Behdad Salimi won the gold medal of 2012 London Olympic Games with the silver medal going to his compatriot Sajjad Anoushiravani.

Iran’s Hossein Rezazadeh also won the gold Olympic medal twice in the same weight category, once in Sydney and the other time in Athens.  

Olympic Games, kicked off in the Japanese capital on August 1.
