During the visit of the Iranian ambassador to Kazan (Volga region) Federal University, Ilshat Ghaforov said that at the time being, students from Iran are studying at this university, and we want scientific, research, and educational ties with the Iranian universities.
He pointed out that Kazan University is the second-largest taxpayer in Russia, and said, "Out of 50,000 students of this university, 10,000 of them are studying from 103 countries."
"The university has a wide range of research and educational activities in the field of oil and gas, and we are currently implementing major projects in the field of hydrocarbons," Ghaforov said.
He said that 103 Iranian students also study at this university, adding that because of the cultural roots between Tatarstan and Iran, this university has an Iranian studies department.
Ghaforov said: "For the new academic year, many requests have been submitted from Iranian students to be admitted to this university."
The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazem Jalali, who has traveled to Kazan, Tatarstan, to attend the Twelfth Economic Conference between Russia and the Islamic World, welcomed the request of the President of the Kazan Federal University regarding the friendly ties of Iran and Russia.
He added that with academic interactions and scientific ties, relations between the two countries will be strong and "we are interested in strengthening the Persian language and literature in Russia and reciprocally the Russian language and literature in Iran".
