Mohsen Ghasemi, director of Bam world heritage site and cultural landscape, told IRNA on Tuesday that the online photography festival has been kicked off since July 8 and competitors can send their images until July 16.
According to the director, the festival is being held to commemorate the anniversary of the inscription of Bam citadel and its cultural landscape of the List of World Heritage sites by UNESCO.
Ghasemi went on to say that enthusiasts can email their photos at bamwhs@gmail.com. The images will be uploaded on the Instagram page of the festival at BAM_WORLD_HERTAGE@.
The first photo that obtains the most likes by people, as well as the best image selected by jurors of the festival, will be given precious rewards, he noted.
Photos before and after Bam earthquake in 2003 will be accepted to vie in the event and every rival can send a maximum of up to 10 pictures, the official added.
23,000 hectares of Bam city and areas around it were inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2004, shortly after it was struck by a major earthquake. Damage caused by the quake warranted the site’s simultaneous inscription on the List of Heritage in Danger.
Bam is located about 185 kilometers southeast of Kerman.
