No decision made on future of agreement with IAEA: Spox

Tehran, IRNA – Spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Monday that no decision has been made on whether or not to renew the three-month agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) or how to continue or discontinue the cooperation.

Khatibzadeh told reporters at his weekly press briefing on Monday that it is the US Human Rights Week, which reminds us of the repeated and shameless violations of US governments against the people of the region and the Iranian nation; we must remind ourselves that human rights are not a tool that has been abused.

He said that the crimes of the MEK took place the first week of summer, adding that the anniversary of the crimes of the MEK group is a reminder of what twists and turns the Islamic Revolution has gone through and what crimes the terrorist groups have committed in media silence or in support of global arrogance.

Referring to the anniversary of the chemical attack in Sardasht, he stated that this day remains "a shameful day for human rights advocates".

Referring to foreign policy developments over the past week, Khatibzadeh noted that in the past week, several ambassadors residing in Iran met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif at the end of their mission, also last week and that Foreign Minister's Special Envoy for Afghanistan Mohammad Ebrahim Taherian visited Kabul and Islamabad to consult with various officials on developments in Afghanistan.

Khatibzadeh said that the developments in Afghanistan had been an important topic of discussion last week, adding that in addition to these, meetings to review the Vienna talks were also taking place these days.

Spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry referring to the possibility of extending the agreement with the IAEA, added that the law of Iranian Parliament is clear in this regard, and making an agreement or not with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and how to continue or not to continue cooperation is a serious matter that has not yet been decided on.
