US tactics in JCPOA negotiations

Tehran, IRNA - The failure of sanction policy of the Trump administration has led the Biden administration to the point that it can use different strategies in order to obtain concessions in Vienna talks on the United States' return to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

In line with securing the strategies, US President Joe Biden tries to intensify sanctions on Iran while opens doors to diplomacy, puts pressure on Tehran via international community and European troika (the European Commission, the European Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund), and gives green light to Arab-Hebrew axis to get in the way of the revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The JCPOA has been exposed to different sorts of negotiating tactics from the US. Of course, the former and incumbent administrations have had undeniable differences on the way they push forward their strategy in this respect.

The Trump administration neglected international norms and regulations, especially when they pull out of the nuclear agreement in May 2018. Former US President Donald Trump was of the opinion that putting pressure on Iran will force Tehran to abandon its demands and accept re-negotiation of the nuclear deal, but such a strategy doomed to failure in real world.

But the new US team pursues intensification of pressure concurrent with opening diplomacy window. The White House continued sanctions campaign and dispatched Robert Malley, Special Envoy for Iran, to Vienna, Austria, while Iran and the P4+1 group (the UK, Russia, China, France plus Germany) as well as the European Union discuss the revival of the nuclear accord.

The White House has tried to portray a disappointing situation of the Joint Commission meetings of the JCPOA in Vienna. To this aim, American authorities accuse Tehran of paradoxical stances in order to create a limbo for the Iranian people. But the Iranian officials have adopted optimistic stance on the issue of lifting sanctions. The Western side has stressed the remaining disagreements, which require Iran's action, in a bid to follow up its propaganda campaign against the Islamic Republic.

Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State, has said that the withdrawal of his team from the Vienna talks is imminent.

Observers believe that such comments have their roots in the United States' psychological tactic to bewilder the Iranian side and try to get maximum concession in the nuclear negotiations.

The US has made relentless efforts to direct the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) when it comes to inspecting Iran's nuclear facilities and activities. However, Tehran has cooperated with the international agency and tried to clarify its nuclear program. The Islamic Republic's one-sided collaboration and the United States' refusal to abide by its commitments under the JCPOA moved Tehran to its peaceful nuclear activities.

The US also gave a green light to Israel and the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council to put pressure on Iran. The Zionist regime embarks on terrorism and sabotage in a bid to derail the Islamic Republic's nuclear talks. The PGCC has used international community to pursue its anti-Iran policies.
