Rouhani urges preparations for inflow of released funds

President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday urged the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) to gear up for the imminent release of the country’s funds frozen abroad.
Speaking at a meeting of the Government’s Economic Coordination Headquarters, Rouhani said it is necessary to prepare for the inflow of the released Iranian foreign exchange resources for financial transactions, Tasnim News Agency reported.

Russian envoy: Iran not a threat to other countries, needs weapons for defensive purposes

Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Dzhagaryan said Tuesday that Moscow’s arms sales to Tehran should not be a source of concern for other countries.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran is not a threat to anyone,” Dzhagaryan said in response to a question posed by Iran Daily during an interview at IRNA’s bureau in Tehran.

Iran slams US ‘interference’ after election criticism

Iran on Tuesday condemned US “interference” in its domestic affairs after the State Department criticized last week’s presidential election in the Islamic Republic.
Iran’s Judiciary chief Seyyed Ebrahim Raeisi scored 62% of the vote in Friday’s election that had a 48.8% turnout. The US State Department said on Monday that it regretted that Iranians were unable to take part in a “free and fair electoral process”, AFP reported.
