Kadkhodaei wrote on his Twitter account on Saturday that on the occasion of the nation day, a few opponents of republic values and democracy harassed freedom-loving and noble Iranians who are living abroad and just like dictators attempted to prevent them from participating in the 13th presidential election by the use of insulting and offensive behaviors.
The spokesman went on to write that yesterday’s votes by thousands of Iranian expatriates was a strong response to the opponents of the Iranian people.
Head of Iran's Elections Headquarters Jamal Oraf has said that counting of 90 percent of the votes shows more than 28.8 million people took part in Friday’s election.
Oraf added that given the fact that the process of counting and aggregating the total votes of polling stations, which were open until early Saturday, the final results have not been yet declared; however, Ebrahim Raisi has got 17.8 million votes so far and followed by Mohsen Rezai with 3.3 million votes, Abdol-Naser Hemmati with more than 2.4 million votes and Amir-Hossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi with around one million votes.
The 13th presidential election of the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in 133 countries in five continents with the use of 234 ballot boxes. Iranian expatriates provided with the opportunity to take part in the voting at several Iranian embassies and consulates around the world.
The number of eligible voters in this round of election stood at 59,310,307 people, out of which 1,392,148 were first-time voters.
