Iran, Syria discuss reinforcing economic ties

Tehran, June 18, IRNA – Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami in a meeting with senior Syrian officials reviewed ways to strengthen trade, economic, and investment cooperation.

In his meeting with Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad Samer al​-Khalil, Eslami discussed implementing an agreement signed between two countries.

Both sides also discussed lifting obstacles in this regard.

Increasing the level of trade exchanges and mechanisms for facilitating financial interactions between Tehran and Damascus can help lift roadblocks for Iranian and Syrian companies.

Referring to political and military victories achieved by Syria and support of the Resistance Axis, Eslami said Syria is in an important strategic situation.

Meanwhile, Samer al​-Khalil hailed the implementation of agreements between two countries.

An Iranian delegation headed by Eslami arrived in Damascus on Tuesday night.

In a separate meeting with the Syrian Minister of Local Trade and Consumer Protection Talal Barazi, the Iranian minister discussed ways to reinforce trade ties between Iran and Syria aiming to stand against imposed economic measures against the two countries.

Both sides reviewed implementing joint projects in Syria which will result in creating more job opportunities and improving the economic situation.

Meanwhile, Barazi stressed taking important steps in line with joint activities.
