The commemoration ceremony on Friday evening at Islamic Center of Moscow was attended by scores of Imam Khomeini's followers from Russia, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, and other countries.
A number of eminent figures such as Nizami Baghlarov the Head of the Society of Ahl al-Bayt, Saber Akbari the Head of Islamic Center of Moscow, Hossein Maleki Deputy Ambassador of Iran to Russia, and other eminent figures delivered speeches at the ceremony.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, a photo exhibit was launched from the start of the movement for the Islamic Revolution to the demise of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Imam Khomeini, who steered the popular uprising in Iran culminating in the fall of former regime of Shah, passed away on June 3, 1989.
He is known as one of the most influential leaders who inspired many other revolutions all across the world.
Imam Khomeini passed away on June 3, 1989, at the age of 89.
