Khatibzadeh was making the remarks speaking to IRNA when asked to comment on reports about suspension of Iran’s right to vote at the United Nations after Iran has failed to pay its contribution to the organization.
He said that Iran has always paid its contribution on time, but it failed to pay its last year contribution due to US arbitrary sanctions on the country which blocked the route for payment.
The UN Secretariat is fully aware of the details of the problem, Khatibzadeh said, noting that it was not Iran’s fault by any means.
He said that lately a way has opened so that Iran can pay its contribution to the United Nations through its account in a Korean bank and the payment will be made soon.
