High turnout in Iran election to guarantee System: Sunni clerics

Bojnourd, June 2, IRNA – Turkmen Ulema (Islamic clerics) in northeastern Iranian province of North Khorasan say that high turnout in the upcoming election will guarantee country against enemies.

Large attendance will also affirm survival of the Islamic System, they said.

Turkmen Ulema believe that participation in the election is "a national duty" that should be be done by every single Iranian.

The Sunni Ulema say that economic and military power is not the sole way to counter enemies, but "nation's presence" is needed as it is the great power.

Enemies try in vain to set distance between people and the system, so high turnout in the election will make the enemies disappointed, the Ulema have noted.

They believe that people should not be indifferent to country's affairs.

Turkmen Ulema further invited people of all social strata to take part in the election.

People's participation in the election will foil enemies' plots against "our system," the Sunni Ulema announced.

They say enemies mount religious war in order to weaken unity.

"Today, Global Arrogance sees Iran as its biggest foe."

Sunni Turkmens include over ten percent of population in North Khorasan.

Iran’s 13th presidential election will be held simultaneously with the sixth round of municipal council elections for the cities and villages, the first mid-term for 11th round of parliamentary by-election, and the second mid-term for the fifth round of Assembly of Experts' election on June 18.

On May 25, Iran’s Ministry of Interior released the names of seven presidential hopefuls who have been qualified by the Guardian Council.
