Iranian energy minister in Moscow to boost bilateral cooperation

Tehran, June 2, IRNA – Iranian Energy Minister and Head of Joint Iran-Russia Economic Cooperation Reza Ardekanian is visiting Moscow atop a delegation to participate at the 24th Saint Petersburg International Economic Conference.

Ardekanian’s visit comes in response to an invitation made by an advisor of the Russian president.

During his stay in Moscow, he will meet the Russian energy minister to survey the articles of the final document of the 15th Joint Economic Conference of Iran and Russia and review the latest status of the joint projects.

Meeting with the Secretary-General of the Eurasia Economic Union with the objective of accelerating Iran’s negotiations with the organization and signing a free trade agreement, inspecting Russia’s Power Machines Company and meetings with its managers to follow up issues related to the construction of four 1400 megawatt heat power generators in Sirik are among the Iranian energy minister’s other programs in this visit.

The 1400-megawatt Sirik head-power generator which is jointly under construction by Iran and Russia will be completed soon. It is one of the most prominent joint ventures by the two countries.

1.4 billion euros has been allocated to the project of which 85%, that is 1.2 billion euros, is paid by the Russian side.
