Iranian weightlifters receive silver, bronze medals at super heavyweight class

Tehran, May 31, IRNA – IWF Junior World Weightlifting Championships continued at super heavyweight class on Monday when two Iranian athletes won the silver and bronze medals of the weight category.

After receiving bronze medal in snatch by lifting 172 kg, Iran’s Reza Hosseinpour lifted 226 kg clean and jerk at his third attempt to win the silver medal both in clean and jerk and in total (398 kg).

Other Iranian weightlifter, Alireza Zandi, lifted 161 at his first snatch attempt.

He then lifted 170 kg and 173 kg at his second and third attempts to win the silver medal in snatch.

Zandi then lifted 221 clean and jerk to win the bronze medal both in clean and jerk and in total (394).

He also tried to lift 226 at his third clean and jerk attempt but failed to do so.
