Afshin Kolahi, the chairman of the Iran Confederation of Knowledge-Based Associations, told IRNA on Friday that the Iran Chamber of Commerce plans to encourage all Iranian companies to export their knowledge-based products so as the country's export in this field reaches four billion dollars.
The Iranian authorities and companies have held several meetings with international firms and certain trade delegations have visited the country in order to get acquainted with Iran's export capabilities in this regard, Kolahi noted.
Given the official and unofficial statistics, Iran's exported knowledge-based products and services valued at one billion dollars last year, he added.
There are also reports of the 100 percent increase of knowledge-based firms in Isfahan province over the past eight years of the government of President Hassan Rouhani.
During the period, the export of knowledge-based products and services increased 34 times as a result of the administration's support for innovations and knowledge-based firms.
The Isfahan Science and Technology Town (ISTT), as the first organization active in setting up science and technology parks, has succeeded in developing knowledge-based firms and start-ups.
There are 582 knowledge-based firms working in the ISTT, providing more than 7,500 innovative persons with the opportunity to find occupations. The companies active in the ISTT have a financial turnover of over 37 million dollars.
Jafar Gheisari, the chairman of Isfahan Science and Technology Town, told IRNA that the knowledge-based firms and start-ups are working in ICT, software, electricity, electronics, telecommunications, water management, environment, food industry, chemical industry, gas and petrochemical industries, art, medicine, engineering, civil engineering, steel, nanotechnology, and so on.
