Sunni cleric urges participation in upcoming presidential elections

Zahedan, May 28, IRNA – The Sunni Friday prayer leader of Iranshar, in Sistan and Baluchestan province, southeastern Iran, called for participating in the upcoming presidential election as “a public religious and national duty”.

Mowlavi Abdulsamad Karimzai told IRNA that broad participation in the elections neutralizes the attacks and plots of the enemies who want to dishearten the people.

Mowlavi Karimzai said that people of Sistan and Baluchestan Province have always negated the enemies’ plots and will do it again by participating in the upcoming elections.

He said that by choosing a good candidate for the post, many of the economic, social, and livelihood issues of the country will be solved, adding that the elections take place on one day, but the fate of the country for four years is decided.

Positive changed will happen with people’s participation in the elections, he noted.

There are some shortcomings, but people should not attribute them to the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic System, he said, adding that weak managers should be driven out by elections; they cause the shortcomings.
