Russian Muslims follow Iran's stance on Palestine as pattern

Moscow, May 25, IRNA - Deputy head of Russia Muftis Council said on Tuesday that Russian Muslims follow Iran's principled stance on Palestine as a pattern.

Demir Muhidinov made the remarks in a meeting held in the Russian capital with Iran's Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali.

Islamic Republic and thoughts of its founder Imam Khomeini gave identity to all Muslims, the Muslims in Russia in particular, the Russian official noted.

Further, he stressed the need to review once again the January 1989 message sent by Imam Khomeini to General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev.

In his message, Imam Khomeini had called on Gorbachev to pay attention to Islam as a substitute for communist ideology.

At his remarks, the Russian official termed normalization of relations between certain Arab states and the Zionist regime of Israel as a treason to Palestinian cause.

Then, he called for supporting Palestinian people through unity and coherence among Muslims.

Iran's ambassador, too, said Tehran's plan for Palestine is the sole solution to save it.

"The plan for holding a national referendum in the land of Palestine" has been registered in the United Nations.

Jalali criticized Islamic countries for just holding meetings and issuing statement with no practical measures.

Jalali further expressed readiness of Iran's Embassy to expand cooperation with Russia Muftis Council.

At the end of his remarks, the ambassador underlined the importance of preserving Islamic identity and fostering solidarity among religions in order to fight enemies' plots.

Different Iranian officials have recently extended congratulations to Palestinian people on their victory at the Twelve-Day War against the Zionist regime of Israel.
