COVID-19 kills 251 more Iranians over past 24 hours

Tehran, May 24, IRNA – The number of deaths from the coronavirus pandemic in Iran increased to 78,848 with 251 more Iranians dying from the deadly disease over the past 24 hours, Iran's Health Ministry announced on Monday.

Some 251 more Iranians have died from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) over the past 24 hours bringing the total deaths to 78,848, Iran's Health Ministry announced on Monday.

11,005 new cases of infection with the COVID-19 were found over the past 24 hours, 1,605 of whom were hospitalized, it said.

The Iranian Health Ministry noted that 2,347,752 patients out of a total of 2,843,523 infected people have recovered or been discharged from hospitals.

Some 4,753 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition in intensive care units, it added.

The Iranian Health Ministry went on to say that 19,054,521 coronavirus diagnosis tests have so far been carried out across the country.

Health Ministry also announced that 2,608,182 people have so far received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 460,853 people have also received the second dose.
