Tehran, May 20, IRNA – In a video conference on Thursday, President Hassan Rouhani ordered launching of Oil Ministry’s petrochemical national projects worth 1,304 million dollars.

In the 68th edition of weekly national projects inauguration program, President Rouhani ordered the launch of several petrochemical projects in Khuzestan and Bushehr provinces, creating 2,454 jobs.

Sabalan Methanol, one of the projects, which made 4,200 jobs during development phases would create 834 additional jobs after launching. The project absorbed 406 million dollars and is expected to annually produce 1.65 million tons of methanol worth 412 million dollars.

Urea and ammonium projects in Masjad Soleyman county, also launched today at the order of the President, has absorbed 850 million dollars with the expectation to give 284 million dollars of annual revenue.

The project has created 1,500 jobs and would produce 680,000 tons of ammonium and 1.73 million tons of urea in a yearly basis.

The last project to inaugurate was Exir hallal Asaluyeh which is constructed in Pars Energy Special Economic Zone with an investment worth 48 million dollars.

Exir Hallal is estimated to have 40 million dollars of annual revenue with 40,000 tons of hexane and 10,000 tons of pentane, creating jobs for 600 people in construction phase and for 120 people after launching.

In the inauguration ceremony, President Rouhani said that his administration has managed to increase Iran’s non-oil exports by 130 million dollars which indicates 59 percent growth compared to the past periods.

He highlighted inauguration of several major projects with huge investments during the coronavirus pandemic and said that the projects launch only today worth over 1.3 billion dollars.
The President also touched on the ongoing talks in Vienna to revive the Iran nuclear deal, saying that if the United States expressed readiness to remove all major sanctions, that’s because of these achievements.

“The current discussions [in Vienna] are on minor issue; major sanctions, including oil, petrochemical products, shipping, insurance and banks, have been agreed upon to be removed,” Rouhani stated.
He underlined that the main work has been done and parties were discussing minor disagreements, but Iran has managed to defeat the coronavirus and sanctions.

The President cited his Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh saying that if it weren’t for US sanction, the administration would be able to launch projects two times more than those launched today.
