Quake hits Hormuzgan Province of Iran

Tehran, Oct 14, IRNA - An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale shook the Iranian Bastak city in the Hormuzgan Province of Iran on Wednesday.

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the earthquake occurred at 02:36 p.m. local time, on October 14, and at the depth of 20 km underground.

The epicenter of the quake was located at 54.57 degrees longitude and 27.3 degrees latitude.

No report has so far been released on the likely casualties or damage to the property.

Iran sits on major fault lines and is prone to near-daily earthquakes.
