Iran, Azerbaijan mulling to set up new border posts

Baku, Jan 19, IRNA – Commander of Azerbaijan Borderguards Elchin Guliyev said on Sunday that Iran and Azeri Government are planning to create new border posts, IRNA reported on Monday.

He made the remarks in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei.

He said that entry and exit of public vehicles from the two countries border crossings has increased remarkably compared to the preceding year.

Setting up new cross-border posts has been the focus of the two governments' talks, he said, noting that efforts in the field indicate good neighborly ties between the two neighboring states.

"President Ilham Aliyev has always recommended us to help promote ties with Iran on border security and we make double efforts to fulfill his orders," he said.
