5.8-Richter quake hits northeastern Iran

Torbat-e Heydariyeh, Jan 2, IRNA – An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale shook Torbat-e Heydariyeh in the northeastern Iranian province of Khorasan Razavi on Thursday morning.

According to the country's Seismological Center, the quake occurred at 08:02 hours local time (04:32 GMT.)

It was at a depth of 8 km.

No report has yet been released on the possible casualties or damages.
