Sheikh Mohammad Khair Jassim al-Nadir told IRNA that the US is trying to force Iran to stop its support for Syria.
"Washington tightened sanctions on Iran in May 2018, after it withdrew from the nuclear deal that was signed in 2015. The US is also pressing other countries, particularly its allies, to stop doing business with Iran and not to buy crude oil from Iran in line with the maximum pressure strategy," he said.
Rejecting on the accusations against the Syrian government on use of chemical weapons, the lawmaker said that it is evident for everybody that Syria has not chemical weapons.
The terrorists on the shared border with Turkey have large amounts of poison gasses and the documents against Syrian government were fabricated by the white helmets, he noted.
Commenting on the US forces in Syria, Jassim al-Nadir said the US military intervention is illegal.
"The US is keeping a large number of its forces in Syria to pressure Damascus," he said adding that other states in the region, such as Turkey and some Persian Gulf states, have contributed to the pressure on Syria.
He welcomed the efforts being made by the international community to end the conflict in Syria as satisfactory, saying that part of the goals has been realized despite the terrorists groups sabotaging the intra-Syrian talks.
