Iran's FM special aid in Moscow for regional consultations

Moscow, June 10, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister's senior assistant for special political affairs Ali Asghar Khaji arrived in Moscow on Monday to discuss regional issues with Russian officials.

Ali Asghar Khaji is slated to hold meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin and Russian President Special representative for Middle East Affairs Mikhail Bogdanov.

During the meetings, both sides are supposed to review important regional developments, especially those related to Syria and Yemen.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia supports Iran’s proposal to leaders of the Persian Gulf states to sign a non-aggression pact.

During his visit to Iraq on May 25-26, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif gave a proposal to leaders of the Persian Gulf states to sign the pact as a prelude to de-escalation in the Persian Gulf region.

Lavrov said that the initiative was discussed with the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council.
