FM: Qatar Gov't will do whatever it can for de-escalation in region

Tehran, June 10, IRNA – Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abd al-Rahman ath-Thani said that the Qatari Government and some other countries will do whatever it can for de-escalation between Iran and the US to serve stability in the region.

Speaking to reporters in London, Mohammed bin Abd al-Rahman ath-Thani said that Qatari Government will make every effort to ease tension between Iran and the US, adding that tensions will benefit no one.


Stressing the fact that Tehran and Washington are not pursuing conflict, he hoped for negotiations to thwart tensions.


He said that Iranians continue with their livelihood despite they have been subject to the US sanctions over the past 40 years


Earlier, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi and Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Jassim ath-Thani discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations  and reviewed the regional issues.


They expressed concern about escalation of tension and problems of the region emphasizing the need to go ahead with dialogue to resolve these issues.
