Iran female Karateka earns bronze medal in China league

Shahr-e-Rey, June 10, IRNA – Iranian female Karate athlete Hamideh Abbas-Ali won a bronze medal in the 2019 Karate 1 - Premier League in Shanghai, China.

Speaking to IRNA, head of Shahr-e-Rey sports and the youth office Mehdi Sedaqat said that Hamideh Abbas-Ali in the weight category of – 68kg defeated her Italian rival and grabbed a bronze medal.

She earlier hit fighters from Taipei, Switzerland and Spain and advanced to qualifiers, he added.

Meanwhile, Head of Miandoab sports and the youth office Amir Rezapour told IRNA that Iranian Karate fighter Ali Karimi in the weight category of – 67 kg was overpowered by his Venezuelan rival and snatched a silver medal.  

He also earlier hit Russia, Hungary, Italy, France and Thailand.

The 2019 Karate 1 - Premier League Shanghai started with the attendance of 543 karate fighters from 76 countries in Shanghai, China.

Iranian male and female squads participated in Kata and Kumite categories to receive 2020 Summer Olympics quota.

The 2020 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXII Olympiad and commonly known as Tokyo 2020, is an upcoming international multi-sport event that is scheduled to take place from 24 July to 9 August 2020 in Tokyo, Japan.
