Iran to form Asia-Pacific startups network

Tehran, June 9, IRNA - Iran is about to form a big network of Asia-Pacific startups with a focus on the country in a bid to find good markets for Iranian startups. 

“The objective of creating such a network is that Iranian startups have access to larger markets in Asia-Pacific. 

Iran will host Asia-Pacific Innovation Forum 2019: Technology Start-ups for Sustainable Development. 

“Iran will host tech startup leaders from 50 countries and UN deputies,” said Iranian Vice President for Scientific Affairs Surena Sattari on Sunday.  

Sattari said the forum of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is a big movement for the the growth of startups and accelerators. 

Iran has the biggest nano, aerospace and IT startups in the region, according to the official who said his country has moved up 55 steps in the Global Innovation Index during the past four years. 

Sattari expressed hope that Iran’s startup ecosystem improves in exporting knowledge-based products to various countries. 

The Iranian official stressed that his Vice Presidency is focusing on startup technologies such as mother cells, water, health and environment.
