Korean minister pledges ease of trade with Iran

Tehran, June 4, IRNA – South Korea's Minister of Economy and Finance Hong Nam-ki pledged his country will spare no efforts to alleviate banking obstacles in doing business with Iran.

Hong Nam-ki made the pledge in a meeting with the Governor of Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Abdolnaser Hemmati in Seoul.

The Korean minister assured Hemmati that his country attaches much importance to business relations with Iran, and that it will make maximum efforts for resolving problems.

He also praised the measures taken by Central Bank  of Iran in the past 10  months as positive steps to stabilize the country's economy.

The Iranian governor arrived in South Korea on Sunday for negotiations on the negative effects of US sanctions on bilateral banking ties between Seoul and Tehran.

At the meeting, he said that Iran is interested in broadening relations with the East Asian country and does not want to see the unilateral sanctions of Washington negatively affects the friendly relation and huge trade exchange of Tehran and Seoul.

The US President Donald Trump in May 2018 announced Washington's withdrawal from the nuclear deal with Iran and world powers, and re-imposed economic sanctions on Tehran.
