Tajik FM in Tehran to discuss bilateral issues

Tehran, May 31, IRNA – Tajikistan Foreign Minister Sirodjidin Muhriddin arrived in Tehran Friday to discuss bilateral issues with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.

Muhriddin is also supposed to meet with Iranian Energy Minister and head of Iran-Tajikistan joint economic commission Reza Ardakanian.

Tehran-Dushanbe relations have been growing since the beginning of Tajikistan's independence in 1991, the recognition of Tajikistan's independence by Iran as the first country in the world proves this claim.

During the unrest in Tajikistan in 1992-1997, Iran set out to overcome the issue and hosted several rounds of Tajik peace talks, and was one of the main parties to the peace talks.

Iran's bold presence in Tajikistan's reconstruction, including in its economic scene, has also strengthened the close ties between the two countries.
