Turkmenistan to host 1st economic meeting of Caspian Sea countries

Tehran, May 29, IRNA – Turkmenistan's envoy to Tehran said that his country will host the first economic conference of the Caspian Sea littoral countries in the coming summer.

Speaking to Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Ahmad Qorbanev said, "Iranian officials in the Ministry Industry, Mine and Trade, and the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development have been invited to take part in the conference."


The meeting will be held in tourist resort city of Awaza, according to the ambassador.


Describing the relations between Iran and Turkmenistan as satisfactory, he added that the latter's embassy in Tehran will hold cultural programs in the next month.


Music performances, book fair, film screening and visiting cultural figures are among the activities on Turkmenistan's culture days.


He also expressed hope that the two countries would resume gas swap deals as in the past.


The Turkmen ambassador visited IRNA on Tuesday and discussed ways of broadening media cooperation between the two countries' media.
