Envoy: Nuclear weapon has no place in Iran's defense doctrine

Tehran, May 28, IRNA – Iran Ambassador to France Bahram Qasemi said on Tuesday that nuclear weapon has no place in the defense doctrine of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to Iranian embassy in France, Qasemi made the remarks in a conference on de-escalation in the Persian Gulf which was held in French Senate.

In addition to the fact that the issue is based upon a Fatwa (edict) issued by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, it has also been proved by Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) through which Iran's compliance to the nuclear related commitments have been verified by IAEA for 14 times, he said.

He added that Iran is ready for negotiations with the Persian Gulf states to resolve misunderstanding.

No country can solely guarantee peace, stability and security in the region, he said.

Taking advantage of peaceful nuclear know-how guaranteed by the JCPOA is Iran's obvious rights and is a clear issue as well, Qasemi noted.

Qasemi went on to say that others have not so far responded to Iran's benevolent call for de-escalation and its endeavors to reinforce peace and stability.

Iran has always reiterated the fact that it is ready for signing a non-aggression treaty with other countries and help remove concerns about stirring fear, Qasemi said.

Establishing peace, security and stability in the region can be realized if interests of all Persian Gulf states are taken into account, he added.

Qasemi went on to say that thanks to the political, economic, security and energy supply indices, the Persian Gulf has turned out to be one of the most important strategic regions in the world and its stability or insecurity will be generalized to the whole world rapidly.

In order to achieve a sustainable stability, peace and security, all countries in the region should make a collective effort and establish joint cooperation, he added.
