Iranian firm commercializes nanocatalyst for big petrochemical plant

Tehran, May 25, IRNA- An Iranian knowledge-based company has commercialized a domestically-produced nanocatalyst that converts the harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx) emitted from coal-and gas-fired power plants to nitrogen and water vapor.

Nano Pars Spadana started the industrial production of this nanocatalyst a year ago and has now delivered five tons of the nanocatalyst to Karun Petrochemical Company, according to Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council (INIC).

“There is a huge internal market for this product and after the internal demand is met, we can think about exporting it,” said Mahsa Vakili, head of the company’s Research and Development (R&D) Department.

She criticized some Iranian companies for preferring the Chinese equivalent of this product although the knowledge-based company possesses the production process from procurement of the raw materials, technical know-how and final production.
