Region not to take another conflict: Ex-Iranian envoy

Tehran, May 22, IRNA – Iran's former envoy to Iraq believes that the Middle East region cannot tolerate a new conflict, saying that contradiction of words and deeds of the US Administration created stalemate for the US.

The region does not have the capacity to take a new conflict, Hassan Danaeifar told IRNA, adding that double standards of the US Administration is the cause of the concerns they are obsessed with.

Referring to the withdrawal of the American company ExxonMobile from Iraqi oil fields, he said, 'The move is not acceptable for Iraqi officials as they have objected to it. In the context, Iraqi oil minister said that the withdrawal was not made due to security reasons, rather the US administration is evading their obligations and making excuses.'

Commenting on the consequences of any conflict in the region, Danaeifar said, 'The Americans know that if they wage another war in the region, Iran will not stand idle. Therefore, it seems unlikely that the Americans prefer conflict.'

He warned, however, that the enemy should not be underestimated.

The former Iranian ambassador to Baghdad also believes that the assumptions of the Americans are gradually being reformed.

'They thought that they could force Iranian government to act according to their demands through hypes and psychological warfare, but the past 40 years of experience—including the Supreme Leader who is an invaluable asset to the country— have prompted the officials to make calculated and right moves and do not let any fuss provoke them,' he said.
