Iranian musician Keivan Saket to play in Paris Philharmonic

Tehran, May 18, IRNA- Renowned Iranian musician and music composer Keivan Saket is scheduled to perform as a soloist with the Paris Philharmonic, it was announced on Saturday.

Speaking to IRNA, he said that he is to play as the soloist in the orchestra composed of an 80-member team, led by the Iranian band leader Arash Fouladvand.

They will have another performance in London.

Saket is the fastest tar and setar (traditional Iranian instrument) player in Iran. He has always believed in promoting Iranian traditional music to the world. One of his tactics is to promote the capability of the Iranian instruments to world audience.

To demonstrate this capability, he tried to perform a number of well-known pieces from classical composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Paganini, Vivaldi, Strauss, and a lot more.

At first, it looked to be an impossible task, he said adding that tar was played with plectrum and most of western classical pieces with the violin - a bowed string instrument. This implies that a tar player must have a very quick plectrum to pluck the strings in order to maintain a rapid repetition of one note, or a tremolo. And yet, Saket is the only one with an inaccessible lightening speed.
