FM Zarif urges P4+1 to save JCPOA

Tehran, May 17, IRNA - Iranian foreign minister in a message hailed his Asian tour, saying all signatories of Iran nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), should make efforts to save the deal.

'In final 2 days of Asia tour—Turkmenistan, India, China & Japan—fruitful discussions w/ FM Kono & PM Abe in Tokyo, & FM Wang Yi in Beijing,' Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote on his Twitter account on Friday.

He added: 'Int'l community, #JCPOA members, & our partners must step up efforts to restore stability & save JCPOA through concrete economic measures.'

Earlier, the Iranian foreign minister had visited Russia, Turkmenistan, and India in a bid to expand the level of cooperation in different fields of mutual interest.

The Iranian foreign minister has also met with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.

The Iranian foreign minister and Turkmen officials discussed various bilateral, regional and international developments.

During his tour of India, Zarif conferred with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj on outstanding issues.

Zarif also met with Ajit Kumar Doval, the National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of India and discussed security issues between two countries.

He continued his Asian tour in Tokyo in which he conferred on issues of mutual interest and bilateral ties with his Japanese counterpart.

The Iranian and Japanese foreign ministers also reviewed the latest regional and international developments.

In the fourth leg of his Asian tour, Zarif arrived in Beijing on Friday to discuss issues of mutual interest with the Chinese officials.

Bilateral ties, regional and international developments as well as full implementation of the Iranian nuclear deal, also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), are the major topics expected to be discussed during Zarif visit to China.
