UN envoy: Regional problems have roots in fake news

New York, May 17, IRNA - Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Majid Takht-e Ravanchi said on Thursday that existing problems in the Middle East region have roots in fake news.

Speaking in an interview with US media ‘CBS’, Takht-e Ravanchi said: “I believe that President Trump does not want to war but that does not mean that people who are close to him share his opinion.”

He added: “I do not want to involve myself in American politics but the fact of the matter is that those hardliners in the administration have been trying to provoke to agitate to create a necessity grounds for the War or conflict with Iran, so as far as president is concerned this the thing that you said today is not something new to us because that our believes. Iran is not interested in the war.”

“We do not want to see a border conflict in our region so those who have been trying to creator instability and insecurity in the region, they should be taken care of,” he reiterated.

Elaborating on the reason why he said we should be cautious about the current situation, he said: “Nobody knows what's going to happen as long as there is armada in our region, there are fleets in our region, and there are bombers in our region.”

“As soon as we get rid of this fake intelligence, all of us will be in the much better situation,” Iranian envoy said referring to fake intelligence as the root cause of all these events.

Takht-e Ravanchi went on to say: “the fake intelligence we have said is that Iran is corporate for the problems in the region, the fake intelligence we say is that Iran is creating instability in Iraq, the important issue is that even these intelligence reports are not being accepted by American allies, So these are the root causes of the problems in our region.”

Commenting on the claims made as equipping the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) speedboat with missiles in the Persian Gulf, he said: “I'm not a military man, but I can tell you is that we do not fire missiles out of those, we do not fire missiles out of small boats.”

“Everybody knows that cannot be possible you need to have launchers, in order to fire Missile, so if they have credible evidence and information, why don't they declassified them? and make it know the American people as well as the people of the world,” he noted.

“As long as they cannot share this intelligence, so we called this intelligence as fake intelligence,” he emphasized.

“As long as they cannot share those information with the general public, I think there is no utility in saying that this information Are incredible,” Takht-e Ravanchi added.
