Marc Wilmots in Tehran to lead Iran national team

Tehran, May 15, IRNA – Former Belgian football player Marc Wilmots who is supposed to be the head coach of Iranian national football team arrived in Tehran early on Wednesday.

Wilmots has been adopted as Iran coach while he does not have a successful record in this field.

He is supposed to visit Iran football facilities and to sign his official contract today.

He will remain the Iranian team's coach until the end of 2022 World Cup.

Wilmots' contract is worth about $1,200,000.

Marc Robert Wilmots is a Belgian international former footballer who last managed the Ivory Coast national football team. During his club career as attacking midfielder, he won trophies with KV Mechelen, Standard Liège and Schalke 04.
